Sunday School
We desire that each of our members grow and mature as people who love Jesus and follow Him daily. We meet for Sunday School every Sunday at 10:00 to encourage one another toward this end. Sunday School provides an opportunity to gather with others for a time of small group discipleship that includes prayer, Bible study, and fellowship.
Descriptions of each of our classes are included below. If you need additional help getting connected, fill out our contact form or email us at media@hsbcpickens.com. We’d be happy to arrange for you to visit some classes to find a good fit for you.

Home Improvement
The Home Improvement Sunday School class is for adults in all stages of life who seek to glorify God through the development of their home and family lives. Our class has a wonderful rotation of teachers from different backgrounds who share Biblical truths and how to apply those to your life. We also love to join in fellowship through social events and in opportunities to minister to and alongside one another. This is a great class to share the experience of life in Christ with genuine support from other believers.
Teachers: Dale Cassell, Sarah Chastain, Chris Hayes, Jamie Pimlott
Encounter
The Encounter Class is mostly composed of adults ages 55 and older, but all are welcome! We enjoy studying together and discussing each week's scripture passage, asking questions, and deep-diving into God's Word. Our class has an ongoing fund (donations by choice) that we use to support mission efforts as needs arise. Prayer requests are always shared, as well as praise reports. This class is a place where you will feel welcomed and appreciated.
Teachers: Gary Day & Patsy Smith
Young At Heart
The Young at Heart Sunday School Class consists of senior adults - married, widowed, and single - who think young at heart. We are a smaller, close knit group who share our love for Christ and love for one another. We study the Bible and discuss God’s word. Please come visit our class. All hearts are welcome!
Teachers: Evan Chastain & Lou Ponder
Welcome
We’re the Welcome Sunday School Class, and we consist of senior ladies but welcome anyone! We have different teachers who rotate every Sunday and between us have many years experience in teaching God’s Word. We have lively discussions and wonderful fellowship in our class and social gatherings at various time during the year. Come join our Christ-centered class as we love and serve Him and love and serve one another.
Teachers: Jean Davis, Carolyn Durham, Charlotte Moore, Kathy Pitts & Linda Sterger
Adult Men
The Adult Men’s class is primarily made up of men ages 55+, but all men are welcome. We know that true joy is only found when we’re living for Jesus, and we enjoy the opportunity to seriously study God’s Word together. We learn from one another and feel comfortable asking questions we wonder about, having good conversations from our research, wisdom, and experience.
Teacher: John Summey
Mothers
We are a mature group of ladies who love the Lord, our church, and our community. Our desire is to be an encouragement to one another and to share God’s hope and joy with others.
Teachers: Doris Johnson & Martha Murphree
Children & Youth
In Sunday School, children and youth learn foundational truths from the Bible and how to apply those to their young lives. They also share in friendship by praying for one another and by participation in age-appropriate activities, such as crafts and games. Sunday School provides a wonderful place for children to gain biblical wisdom and knowledge and learn more about developing a meaningful relationship with God and other children.
